CMDB Link Status

You can create a link between CMDB items, and assign a link status to provide information, such as whether the link is active or frozen. You can define whatever link statuses you need for your organization.

The following link statuses are provided by default: Authorized, Not Authorized, Discovered, Not Discovered, Confirmed and Stale.

 

Creating a Link Status

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access security role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if or how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are working in the correct partition.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select CMDB Link Status to display the window .
  1. Select Snippet . A new row is added to the browse table.
  2. In the Name list, type the name or description of the new link status you want to create.
  3. Repeat these steps for each link status you want to create.
  4. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Once you select , the browse table displays the entries in alphabetical order.

Renaming a Link Status

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select CMDB Link Status to display the window .
  1. Select the Link Status entry you want to edit. The entry is highlighted.
  2. Type the name you want to assign for the selected link status.
  3. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Deleting a Link Status

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access security role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if or how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are working in the correct partition.

You cannot reverse this procedure. If you delete a link status by mistake, you have to re-create the entry by creating a new link status.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane expand CMDB.

  2. Select CMDB Link Status to display the window .
  1. In the browse table, select the link status entry you want to delete.
  2. Select You. You cannot delete the default link status. It will disappear from the list but reappears once you save the changes.
  3. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.
